Duverdrey & Bloquel French Carriage Clock Original Leather Case c.1910
Duverdrey & Bloquel French Carriage Clock Original Leather Case c.1910
A magnificent Duverdrey & Bloquel French Traveling Alarm Clock in Original Leather Case
This supremely rare clock was produced between 1902 (year Duverdrey & Bloquel was formerly) and 1928 (year Bayard added their name to the movements).
The latch on the case is stamped RG, with the R reversed. Traditionally in France during this time period, RG represents rolled gold, (not the pretzels), but a technique of physically bonding gold to brass with pressure. In this case, with the R reversed, it is difficult to tell. The clock case itself does appear to be made of brass and coated with gold, so it appears to be accurate.
The movement has been serviced, and runs very well, so well in fact, that it’s a few minutes fast, even with the speed adjustment at its slowest setting. The alarm works as it should.
