Vintage Franz Hermle Full 4/4 Westminster Chiming Table Clock.
A beautiful, solid brass clock by German clock master Franz Hermle. Measures 10” tall and 8” wide, featuring a silver face with Roman numerals. The movement is a vintage Hermle 340-021a, polished to a mirror finish, rather than more recently produced movements with the same model number that aren’t nearly as nice. The logo and model are punched, rather than new laser etched models.
It has a floating wheel escapement rather than a pendulum and can sit in “less than perfectly level” places and still run well. It is also very accurate.
The 4/4 Westminster chime plays a portion of the Westminster tune at the quarter, half and 3/4 hour and then plays the entire song at the top of the hour followed by a chime counting the current number of hours.
Original key is included to wind the three barrels once every 8 days. It should be habit to wind it every 7 days, but runs an extra day in case you forget.
There is a lever in the back to silence the chimes if desired.
Parts of the case have developed a patina, specifically the back plate, however the top is beautiful. Please see pictures for details.
