Immaculate example of a mid 20th Century Seth Thomas Striking Ship Clock in a Mahogany and brass base, the clock measures 6 inches in diameter
The Helmsman features a 7 Jewel platform escapement made in Germany, a silencing switch for the bell, and a speed adjustment arm. Brushed Steel dial on the clock is marked Seth Thomas; Germany Movement.
The Helmsman Model E537-001 clock strikes according to the “ships bell’s system” which is designed for 4 hour watches, and as such, has increasing bells every half hour, beginning with one bell at 12:30. It increases to 8 bells at 4 o’clock. And resets to one bell at 4:30 and again at 8:30.

Includes winding key for the two barrel springs on the clock, one is for the clock, the other powers the chime.
As with all my clocks for sale, this has been inspected, serviced and is in fantastic working condition.
